After Viewing:
1.
How does Maya Lin use shape to define a landscape?
2.
Compare her three-dimensional landscapes with
traditional landscape painting with respect to the use of color, space, shape,
and line.
Activity:
1. Find a place in nature and design a piece of art that reflects the
surrounding earth formations and other natural elements.
2.
Suggest alterations of the environment that would
change the way people use the space.
You can:
-Create a detailed drawing or painting of the work of art
-Use Photoshop to depict the work of art
-Create a sculpture (smaller scale) of work of art
-Use
mixed media to depict work of art (photography, drawing, painting, Photoshop,
etc).
After Activity:
1.
Does the artwork have another function? (I.e.
memorial, skating rink, playground, water fountain, etc)
2.
How does this piece of art reflect the
surrounding environment in which we live?
